Mapping Sugarbeet Root Maggot Populations - 2002

The following maps represent an estimate of sugarbeet root maggot adult populations as monitored by sticky stakes in the Red River Valley (locations of which are denoted on the maps by grey stars). The estimates are kriged surfaces created in ArcMap 8.1. Trap locations were slecetd not only to reflect historical hotspots, but also to provide a somewhat even ocverage of the sugarbeet production area.

Mean catch per stake is presented for summed sample periods while the cumulative catch shows the running mean catch per stake.

Please feel free to contact us with questions, comments or suggestions. If you feel the maps do not accurately reflect the populations or you feel there is an important area that may be undersampled, please feel free to suggest trap locations. We are willing to add or adjust trap locations (within reason - we have limited resources). The contact information is at the bottom of the page.

Visitors may notice a change in the maps; a new scale was adopted including blank areas within the trapping area representing regions where root maggot populations were estimated to be 0/stake.
