SPRING WHEAT
Wheat crop growth stages are advancing from flowering to grain fill
during a time when the weather is too hot and dry for disease
development.
SOYBEAN
I’m receiving reports of fields with a few (one to six) plants dying
within rows at irregular intervals.
Discolored
Wheat Heads: Heat, Root Rot, Maggots, or Scab ?
It is not difficult to find discolored wheat heads in fields
throughout the region. There are multiple causes for these symptoms.
Single-Generation European Corn Borer Management

The European corn borer (ECB) is still the region’s number one
insect pest of corn, though Bt corn has helped take much of
the guesswork out of management. The challenge of managing borers in
northwest Minnesota has always been due to the lengthy interval of
moths emerging from overwintering sites.
Potato Leafhopper in Dry Beans and Alfalfa
Potato leafhoppers arrive each year following migration of the
leafhoppers from southern states where they overwinter. Leafhoppers
can be found in our alfalfa, soybeans and dry beans. Potato is
another crop where their numbers often increase.
