The annual U of M Northwest Research and Outreach Center (NWROC)
Field Day is scheduled for Wednesday, July 12, 2006, beginning with
registration and coffee at 8 a.m. Visitors are asked to come to the
NWROC’s North Agronomy Farm, approximately 1.0 miles north of the
University of Minnesota Crookston (UMC) campus on Highway 75.
Parking areas will be marked.

Aphids, Aphids Everywhere!! –
June 28, 2006
The dry conditions and moderate temperatures over the weekend
have been ideal for wheat maturation. Unfortunately, they’ve
also been terrific for aphid population growth! Both cereal
aphid and soybean aphid populations in the central & northern RRV
continue to rise.
Early-Season
Scouting for Soybean Aphid
Soybean aphid colonization of soybean began earlier this spring
throughout Minnesota and the Midwest. Besides the timing, intensity
and duration of colonization, the aphid buildup depends on weather
(rainfall, temperature), soybean (variety, phenology, drought
stress) and natural enemies. Here are some
discussion items that should be helpful.
Cropland Rental Rates for NW
Minnesota Counties
In Minnesota, based upon Census of Ag data, approximately 40
percent of total land in farms is rented. Landowners, operators, and
ag professionals often contact the University of Minnesota
requesting land rental rate information. This article is one
