Soybean aphid populations have been rising in a number of locations in NW Minnesota.

Feasibility of Winter Wheat Following Soybeans
in Northwest Minnesota

The number of winter wheat acres in the Northwest Minnesota has historically been very low when compared to hard red spring wheat (HRSW). Lack of a suitable previous crop and the risk of winterkill are two main reasons why the winter wheat acreage is small. The risk of winterkill can greatly be reduced if and when a snow cover can protect the dormant wheat seedling.

Harvesting Tips for Dealing with Scab-infected Grain
Growers with severe scab in their fields may take several steps to reduce their risk of harvesting grain with high levels of scabby kernels and DON (deoxynivalenol or vomitoxin).

Flea Beetles and Bean Leaf Beetles in Soybean Fields
There are many small, black, very active beetles being found in many soybean fields. Flea beetle feeding tends to be concentrated in small portions of the leaf. Bean leaf beetle were reported to have populations great enough to spark some interest.
